Hergert Numbers in England

Popular math textbook author Elayn Martin-Gay took her Hergert Numbers t-shirt on a recent trip to England and sent back these fantastic photos of spreading the word overseas.

Here's a shot from Kensington Palace - the royal palace whose past residents include Queen Victoria and Princess Diana.

This one is from The Orangery which is a garden pavilion that was built in 1704 for Queen Anne adjacent to Kensington Palace. It serves as a restaurant today.

Here we find Elayn in the city of Chester in northwestern England at Chester Cathedral which dates back to 1092.

Special thanks to Elayn for helping to spread the word about Hergert Numbers internationally!

Hergert Numbers at the 2024 IMACC Annual Conference

Elayn Martin-Gay became a Hergert Numbers fan after hearing the origin story.

Dominica Blalock of Kishwaukee College never fails to wear her shirt at the conference.

I had the honor of presenting long-time Hergert Numbers supporter Dr. Paul McCombs with the IMACC Distinguished Service Award.

I also presented the IMACC Teaching Excellence Award to Omar Adawi of Parkland College.

Hergert Numbers at Multnomah Falls!

Hergert Numbers were in Oregon many years ago when Elizabeth Meena took them to the Pacific Ocean.

This time, I was out for a visit and couldn't pass up the chance to show off Hergert Numbers at the tallest waterfall in Oregon - the 620-foot Multnomah Falls.

Hergert Numbers & Harry Truman!

I took a trip to Kansas City and stopped by the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library & Museum in Independence, MO.

My hat was a little small for the Truman statue out in front, but I think it works. BTW, the museum was fantastic and if you're ever in the KC area I would highly recommend it.

Nothing says 2020 like a Hergert Numbers COVID mask! It's the socially distant way to spread the word.

Hergert Numbers & Chick-Fil-A!

If you're a Chick-Fil-A fan and a Hergert Numbers fan, you can't help but bring your shirt to the Chick-Fil-A Support Center in Atlanta as Dr. Paul McCombs did in December 2019.

The Dwarf Grill was the first location in Atlanta suburb Hapeville back in 1946. It was later renamed "Dwarf House".

Hergert Numbers at Hoover Dam!

I made my second trip to Las Vegas this summer, so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to spread the word about Hergert Numbers at Hoover Dam - especially since it was Independence Day. We got a tour of the power plant and inner workings of the dam. What an impressive feat from nearly a century ago!

Historic Hergert Numbers!

"One if by land, and two if by sea; And I on the opposite shore will be"

Hergert Numbers recently visited the Old North Church in Boston and I was left wondering, "What are the Hergert Numbers for the function f(x)=x^4-6x^3+12x^2?"

Hergert Numbers on the Water!

A couple weeks ago, I showed up at Victoria Lake in South Beloit, IL to do some paddling with RVC Math professor Rob Clark and he was wearing his Hergert Numbers t-shirt! I believe this is the first HN photo on water.

Hergert Numbers Down Under!

Rock Valley College faculty member Elizabeth Meena has taken the Hergert Numbers movement to Australia.

I'm sure this koala was happy to finally have a term for potential inflection points.

I hope the woman in the background was scowling at the snake rather than the definition of Hergert Numbers on the back of Elizabeth's t-shirt.

New Hergert Numbers logo!

In honor of the new Metallica album release, the website http://metallica.alwaysdata.net/ would take any name or short phrase and create it in the classic Metallica style. I couldn't resist.

Hergert Numbers & Eagles!

The Hergert Numbers recently paid a visit to the National Eagle Center in Wabasha, Minnesota.

They had a few eagles that were being rehabbed after various accidents, but the location of the center on the Mississippi River also allowed us to view bald eagles soaring over the river just outside the building. And they covered all things eagles from their habitats and behaviors to their use as symbols of strength and courage. It's not a big place but you can learn a lot very quickly with just a brief visit.
