Hergert Numbers in Chicago! (again)

I had this week off, so I wanted to fit in a visit to Chicago. And there's no better place to go in Chicago on a beautiful 85-degree day than Lincoln Park Zoo. Besides having a fabulous free zoo, there are lots of other cool places in the vicinity.

This was taken outside the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum just north of the Lincoln Park Zoo. This was my first visit here and it was really cool. Awesome collection of butterflies!

The Hergert Numbers baseball cap provides much-needed sun cover for a thinning hairline!

Hergert Numbers & the Golden Goose

The Rock Valley College chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) sponsored a volleyball tournament on campus today. I was fortunate enough to play with the Math Engineering Physics Astronomy Club (MEPA). Although we didn't win the tournament, we did beat the PTK in two straight games to win the coveted Golden Goose! They said I was an "integral" part of our team's success. A great way to finish off the semester hanging out with my favorite Meeps!!

Hergert Numbers 5-year Anniversary

This photo was taken on March 25, 2009 - the day that I walked into class to discover my class had created these t-shirts to help "spread the word". Thanks to everyone who has bought a t-shirt over the last five years and especially to those who have sent me pictures.

But remember that the best way to spread the word is to grow up to be a math teacher and use Hergert Numbers as the name for your potential inflection points. Keep spreading the word!

Hergert Numbers in the City

Hergert Numbers traveled to New York City last week with my sister-in-law who was across the river in New Jersey for a work training trip. She & her co-workers spent a night on the town in NYC seeing as many sights as they could. Here's the Manhattan skyline in the background. Hergert Numbers in India

I've been really bad about updating the webpage this summer, but we've had some exciting things happening with Hergert Numbers.

Above, we have College of DuPage student Joel Swanson wearing his HN shirt in India! That's the second one to make it to Asia (Rachel Slabaugh took hers to China a few years ago). Thanks to Joel for sharing the photo.

Also, I got word that popular Calculus textbook author Ron Larson added a link to HergertNumbers.org to his textbook's website. You can find the link by choosing Chapter 3 and Section 4 from the drop down menus, then clicking the "videos" drop down menu and you'll see it in the list. That's huge!! I am eternally grateful to Professor Larson for the support.

The shirts have been flying off the shelves this year and you don't have to go halfway around the world to get an interesting pic. Please keep sending/posting your photos!!
